Ita Thao Section

The Ita Thao section starts from the bustling Ita Thao Old Street and connects to the Shuiwatou Hiking Trail. Along the way, you can see the vibrant overhead cable cars and the famous Nine Frog Stack statue. The recently completed "Ita Thao (Takrahaz) Water Cycling Path," spanning 600 meters, offers stunning lake and mountain views, with art installations featuring indigenous elements like the "Fish-shaped Platform" and the "Fish Basket-shaped Flower Stand," making for a unique cycling experience.

Nine Frogs Stack

During the dry season, nine frogs emerge from the water, stacked on top of each other, making them a fun and seasonal photo opportunity. The frogs actually serve a hidden function of recording daily changes in the lake's water level for hydroelectric generation.

Ita Thao Waterfront Hiking Trail

The 2.4-km hiking trail starts from Chunghwa Telecom Building, passing by Sun Moon Lake Ropeway to Shuiwatou. Built along the lake, the trail meanders through a mangrove forest and faces the ropeway station that looks like a UFO - how interesting the contrast is, between the primitive and the modern!
