Songbolun Section
The Songbolun section is approximately 1.5 kilometers long, linking Songbolun to Dajhuhu. The gently sloping path is surrounded by lush greenery, and you can occasionally catch glimpses of the lake through the foliage. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset at Dajhuhu, making it an ideal place for a prayerful journey that includes Wenwu Temple and the Year of Steps.

This trail was once used by the ancestors of the Thao people to travel to Puli for collect rent, and it was an important place for the Yuan family chiefs to conduct ancestor worship. Before Sun Moon Lake was formed, it was also a significant salt-transporting ancient road.

With the aura of primeval forest, Songbailun Nature Park is an ancient path used by the early Shau indigenous people for salt trading between Puli and the mountains. Walking along the Songbailun Nature Trail, lush greenery adorns both sides, and you can hear the chirping of insects and birds in the forest. Climb up to the observation deck for a panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake and its beautiful landscape.

With a total length of only 200 meters, this is the shortest trail at Sun Moon Lake. The unique sandbank terrain nurtures a rich ecological environment. The less-known Wujie Irrigation Outlet is also an excellent spot to observe the Sun Moon Fountain.

Dazhulake Viewing Platform
Enter from the parking area below the Dazhulake Trail Road, and you’ll soon find a viewing platform. From above, you can see the famous Sun Moon Springs in Sun Moon Lake, the water source for the Wujie irrigation system. During heavy rainfall, you can witness the springs erupting. Additionally, the platform is near a wetland for waterbirds, where you can observe various migratory birds during the season.
