Tourist spots description
Chaowu Pier
Chaowu Pier

Chaowu Pier is one of the four major piers at Sun Moon Lake and is an ideal spot for sunrise viewing when looking eastward. Due to the unique climate, terrain, and hydrology, the lake is often shrouded in mist during early mornings. The scene is especially enchanting as the rising sun illuminates the mist, earning Chaowu Pier the reputation as "Shuishe Morning Mist," one of the eight famous views of Sun Moon Lake.

Shuishe Pier
Shuishe Pier

Shuishe Pier is another of Sun Moon Lake's four major piers and serves as a key point for lake tours. It is a bustling tourist hub with concentrated hotels, restaurants, and shops. The pier area features a waterside promenade, a cycling path, The Lalu, Church of the Gesù, and Meihe Garden. The Shuishe Pier Plaza often hosts various performances and events.

Waterfront Bikeway
Waterfront Bikeway

The Xiangshang section of the bike trail connects Shuishe to the Xiangshang Visitor Center, stretching about 3.4 kilometers. Both ends of the trail have bike service stations, and the most water-close section spans about 0.4 kilometers, with the path elevated over the water. This section, often referred to as the "Waterfront Bikeway," offers a unique experience as it winds over the water, bypassing homes and shops.

Shuishe Dam
Shuishe Dam

Surrounded by lush greenery, the wooden walkway along Shuishe Dam offers a tranquil stroll with expansive views of Sun Moon Lake. As the morning light reflects off the water and the distant Cien Pagoda and mountain ranges come into view, the picturesque landscape is irresistible. The natural beauty of the area makes it a popular spot for wedding photography.

Yongjie and Tongxin Bridges
Yongjie and Tongxin Bridges

The Yongjie and Tongxin Bridges are iconic spots on the bike path between Shuishe and Xiangshang. The curved Yongjie Bridge gracefully crosses a valley, while the design of the Tongxin Bridge is inspired by the traditional fishing nets of the indigenous Thao tribe. These white bridges, located near the Wedding Photography Plaza, are also popular sites for wedding photos.

Xiangshangg Overlook Platform
Xiangshangg Overlook Platform

This steel platform, inspired by the "pestle" of the Thao tribe, extends over Sun Moon Lake at a height of 10 meters above the water. Its hollowed floor design showcases structural aesthetics, creating the illusion of diving into the lake as it extends toward the water. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Lalu Island, Hanbi Peninsula, and Shuishe Dam from the platform.

Lalu Island Viewing Platform
Lalu Island Viewing Platform

The "See Lalu" platform offers a prime location to view Lalu Island and provides a 270-degree panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake. A unique art installation on the platform recreates the appearance of Lalu Island before the reservoir was built, through a forced perspective technique.

Crescent Bay
Crescent Bay

Located south of the Xiangshang Visitor Center, Crescent Bay is part of the "Moon Lake" area. The Yuetan Cycling Path runs through this area, which is rich in biodiversity and vegetation. On clear days, visitors can also spot the distant Cien Pagoda. As no boats operate in this area, it is an ideal spot for peaceful cycling or walking.
