Event Details
2026 Sun Moon Lake Four‑Seasons Cycling Certification – Spring

Event Period: January 1, 2026, 00:00 – March 31, 2026, 17:00 (or until all medals are redeemed.)
※ Participants must complete a full lap around Sun Moon Lake by bicycle. Walking the route does not count!

No registration required — Simply complete the route by bicycle on your own, and fulfill the following three requirements: Provide a receipt or invoice of at least NT$100 spent within the Sun Moon Lake tourism area. Complete the “challenge pictures” Upload your route track via GPS-enabled app. After uploading these materials to the Four-Season Certification Medal Redemption Reservation System (hereinafter referred to as “the Reservation System”), you may redeem your medal.

※ Each person is limited to redeeming one medal per season!

  • "Receipt of a single purchase of NT$100 or more:"
    Spend at least NT$100 in a single transaction within the Sun Moon Lake tourism area.
  • "Challenge pictures:"
    Take a photo of yourself with your bicycle at three designated checkpoints. The photo spots will be announced on the official Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Headquarters Facebook page one day before the start of each season.
  • "Designated Route GPS Track:"
    Use a smartphone app capable of recording cycling routes to log your ride on one of 16 diverse routes, including the Sun Moon Lake (lake loop).

How to Participate & Book Medals

1.You can create an account before or after completing your ride.

2.Click "Reserve Now (to redeem at Visitor Center)" to hold your medal within the valid redemption period.

3.You must redeem the medal within the deadline at Xiangshan Visitor Center. Expired reservations will be released, and you may rebook only after 48 hours.

Upload Process
Step 1: Enter Consumption Proof
  1. Enter the receipt/invoice details according to your purchase
    • For electronic invoices, select “Paperless Invoice”
    • If selecting receipt, input the “Store Name” in the invoice code section
  2. Click “Save”

Step 2: Upload Photos #1–3 – Designated Photo Spots
  1. Upload photos showing you and your bike at each designated location with required hand gesture
  2. Select “Choose” → Designated Spot
  3. Click “Upload”
  • Each photo must be uploaded individually (total of 4 photos required)
  • Accepted formats: jpg / png / heic (iPhone)
  • For group photos, the number of people and bicycles must match
Step 3: Upload Photo #4 – Route Track Screenshot
  1. Upload cycling route track – no gaps allowed
  2. Select “Choose” → Route Track (must include mileage and date)
  3. Click “Upload”

  • Track must display current season’s year and date
Step 4

Click “I want to reserve” → A message will appear showing medal reservation time and date. Please complete your challenge promptly.

Redemption Procedure
  1. Within the redemption period, please visit the Xiangshan Visitor Center in person with:
    A valid photo ID
    Original proof of purchase (paper receipt/invoice or digital invoice record)
  2. Show the screen confirming your follow of the [Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area] Facebook fanpage.
  3. Provide your redemption reservation account for staff verification.

Reminders
  1. Please slow down and refrain from overtaking when riding on downhill sections for your safety.
  2. The white lines on the road around the lake can become slippery in rainy conditions. Avoid riding directly on them to prevent accidents.
  3. Please assess your physical condition and ability before joining the cycling challenge. If you feel unwell, stop at a safe location and rest. Do not push beyond your physical limits.
  4. Participants are required to check their bicycle condition before riding:
    (1) No visible damage or deformation to the frame; all components securely fastened.
    (2) Brakes are responsive and brake pads are within safe wear limits.
    (3) Gear shifting functions properly.
    (4) Saddle is adjusted to a proper height and securely tightened.
    (5) Chain rotates smoothly and is not loose.
    (6) Tire pressure, tread, and rim condition are normal.
    (7) Lights and reflectors are functioning, especially for tunnels, foggy sections, or low-visibility areas.
  5. Bicycle Troubleshooting Instructions:
    (1)Please carry a spare inner tube and basic repair tools to handle flat tires or minor mechanical issues.
    (2)If needed, contact a local bike shop for roadside assistance.
  6. Participants must follow all traffic rules and signals. Ride on the right side of the road or keep as close to the edge as possible. Do not ride against traffic.
    (According to Taiwan traffic regulations, bicycles are classified as slow-moving motor vehicles. Any violations of traffic rules or accidents due to non-compliance shall be the sole legal responsibility of the participant.)
  7. Some sections of the route may be physically demanding. Please assess your own physical condition and understand the potential risks before taking part in the challenge.
  8. Participants with medical conditions such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, or asthma, or any other condition unsuitable for intense physical activity, are not permitted to join this event.
    (Participants are responsible for evaluating their own health. The organizer will not be held liable for any incident resulting from failure to follow this rule.)
  9. Accidents such as falls or collisions may occur during the challenge. The organizer assumes no liability beyond the coverage of provided insurance.
  10. If the event cannot proceed due to force majeure or unforeseen circumstances, the organizer reserves the right to cancel, suspend, modify, or terminate the event at any time.
  11. Participants are expected to uphold environmental responsibility—respect nature and refrain from littering.
  12. The organizer reserves the right to amend these rules at any time. Latest updates and announcements will be posted on the official Facebook page and website of the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Headquarters.
Challenge Task

Complete the designated route of the Sun Moon Lake cycling challenge on your own, and take photos at 3 designated checkpoints. The checkpoint locations will be announced in a pinned post on the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Facebook page the night before each season begins.

Why can't I upload my photos to the system?
 
1. Please take a screenshot of the photo using your phone and then upload it to the system.
2. If the issue persists, please ask the on-site staff for assistance. If possible, leave your phone brand and model along with a photo to help our engineers investigate the issue.
 
Can I use an e-bike?
 
Only pedal-assist electric bicycles are allowed.
 
When can I redeem the medal at the Visitor Center?
 
The Xiangshan Visitor Center is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can redeem the medal during these service hours.
 
Are all receipts accepted?
 
Receipts or invoices must meet the following criteria:
  • Purchase date: Within the current event season
  • Purchase location: Within the Sun Moon Lake tourism area (Yuchi, Puli, Guoxing, Ren’ai, Xinyi, Shuili, Jiji, Zhongliao, Caotun, Nantou City, Mingjian, Lugu, Zhushan, Tianzhong, Ershui)
  • Eligible items: Food and beverages, accommodation (licensed stays), shopping, bike rentals, Taiwan Tourist Shuttle or Sightseeing Bus rides, boat tours, cable cars, fuel (limited to Sun Moon Lake gas station)
 
What if a child wants to participate but doesn't have a mobile phone?
 
Each participant needs one account, but a guardian can help create the account and upload the required information.
 
If I can access the reservation system, can I definitely reserve a medal?
 
If the homepage of the reservation system shows "No spots available", the system will notify you that reservations are temporarily unavailable. You can still upload your materials, but you must wait for a spot to be released.
 
How do I know if medals have been released?
 
When the "Available for Reservation" number changes from 0 to a positive number, it means medals have been released.
 
When are medals released?
 
Medal release time is 19:00. Please check the reservation system homepage to confirm.
If a participant completes a redemption that day, no additional release will occur. Please refer to the homepage status.
 
When can I click “Reserve Now”?
 
  • Type 1: If you haven’t made a purchase or cycled yet, you can still create an account and click “Reserve Now”, but the reservation period is very short.
    • If you click before 17:00, you must complete the redemption by 17:00 on the same day (D)
    • If you click after 17:00, you must complete the redemption by 17:00 on the next day (D+1)
  • Type 2: After uploading any one of the following: receipt, designated photos, or route tracking map, you may click “Reserve Now”. The reservation period is slightly longer.
    • If you click before 17:00, complete redemption by 17:00 on the next day (D+1)
    • If you click after 17:00, complete redemption by 17:00 two days later (D+2)
  • Type 3: After uploading all of the following: receipt, designated photos, and route tracking map, the reservation period is longer.
    • If you click before 17:00, complete redemption by 17:00 two days later (D+2)
    • If you click after 17:00, complete redemption by 17:00 three days later (D+3)
 
Can I upload all the photos after finishing the ride? Or upload them separately as I complete them?
 
Both are acceptable!
Once you log into the reservation system, you can upload your materials anytime.
Make sure to click “Save” for your purchase proof, and upload challenge photos and route tracking map individually to be considered complete.
 
What happens if I forget to redeem within the deadline? Can I still redeem?
 
If the deadline is missed, the system will mark your reservation as incomplete.
You will need to wait 48 hours before you can make another reservation.
